Plans for 2026

My friends, I hope your holidays were joyful, and I hope you’re excited for the projects you have coming up in 2026. In December, I posted about some of my gains from 2025, and now, on the cusp of this fresh new year, I wanted to write about my goals.

Dig Deeper Into My Morning Writing Routine

This year, instead of focusing on accomplishing specific projects, I want to resurrect the morning writing routine that I set up while I was doing National Novel Writing Month back in November. If I managed it for a month, then I think I can keep it going. If I can keep up the routine, then I can make better headway on my current works-in-progress. At the moment, I’m working on my latest draft of the last book in the Sky Raiders trilogy, and it’s going really well. Once I finish that draft, I’ll return to Interloper. But the primary goal is just to keep sitting down every morning and putting pen to paper.

Get the Hang of Publishing

Sharing my work brings me a lot of satisfaction, so I want to get better at putting it out there. Last year, I made a lot of headway with the newsletter and blogging, but the process of pulling together all of the materials necessary to publish a book takes a lot of time and research, and it frankly also tends to kink up my writing process. (If I’ve got a good writing rhythm and then I have to stop and work on publishing, it’s hard to pick up the rhythm again.) So I want to figure out a way to incorporate publishing work into my weekly routine so that it doesn’t take away from my writing time. I’m still thinking through the details for what that will look like, but it’s coming. This year, I’d like to republish Sky Raiders and Shadow Hawks as ebooks and hard copies, and I’d like to start publishing Interloper on an accessible platform.

There’s a lot to look forward to this year, and I’ll keep you posted on all of the projects here. I’d love to hear about everything you’re working on in the comments below.
